Toronto, ON-May 14, 2013—Sonorous Entertainment Inc. has added The Highway Q.C.’s to its 2013 Platinum Gospel lineup. The Highway Q.C.’s were an Amercin group active for more than fifty years. The group launched the careers of several secular stars, including Lou Rawls, Johnnie Taylor, and Sam Cooke. They were founded in 1945 in Chicago by a group of male teenagers who attended Highway Baptist Church that included Sam Cooke, Creadell Copeland, Marvin and Charles Jones, and Curtis and Lee Richardson. Cooke sang with the group through 1951 when he joined the Soul Stirrers: Lou Rawls took his place through 1953. Rawls had previously sung with the Holy Wonders and eventually all the other Wonders (Spencer Taylor, James Walker and Chris Flowers) would join the Highway Q.C.’s. This digitally re-mastered release showcases some of the Q.C.’s greatest recordings, such as Jesus I’m Waiting, Nearer to Thee, He Said, I used to Wonder and more.

Toronto, ON- April 23, 2013--Sonorous Entertainment Inc. will include another gospel music legend to its Platinum Gospel Series for 2013 on April 30th with the release of soloist Clara Ward. Widely acclaimed among the greatest soloists in gospel history, Clara Ward was also the subject of much criticism from purists with her backing group, the Ward Singers. She pushed gospel out of the church and into the nightclubs, infusing the music with a shot of glitz and glamour the likes of which had never before been seen. Decked out in colorful gowns, towering wigs, and dazzling jewelry, the Wards sang only the biggest pop-gospel hits, flamboyantly delivered for maximum commercial appeal. At their creative peak, the group was a true phenomenon, combining superb soloists, exceptional material, and innovative arrangements to leave an indelible mark on the generations of spiritual performers who followed.

The Gospel Choir is a great American tradition, where weekly hundreds of thousands of church goers across the country gather with their fellow community members and sing the praises of the Lord. It’s a tradition that some say will never die.  HOB Records was one of the most influential rerecord companies in the choir scene. The HOB catalogue contains thousands of hours of choir recordings from the 60’s and 70’s. Platinum Gospel: Great Gospel Choirs is a collection of the finest recordings featured in this compilation. Included in this 12 track release are, The Thompson Community Singers, The Savettes Choral Group, Rev. James Cleveland & The Voices of Tabernacle, Christ Tabernacle Choir and many more. We have also included photos and album covers from the original releases to paint a more historically accurate picture of this great collection. Each track has been transferred from the original tapes and re-mastered for the finest listening experience.
